The Friends of the Orange County Public Library are pleased to host 2017 Piedmont Laureate Mimi Herman for a reading of her poetry followed by a brief reception on August 30, 2017, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the meeting room of the main branch of the Library.
Mimi Herman is the 2017 Piedmont Laureate, a Kennedy Center teaching artist, and the author of Logophilia and The Art of Learning. Her writing has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Shenandoah, Crab Orchard Review, The Carolina Quarterly, The Hollins Critic, and other journals. She has performed her poetry and fiction at venues ranging from Why There Are Words in Sausalito, California, to Symphony Space in New York City. With her partner, John Yewell, she offers Writeaways retreats for writers in France, Italy, and North Carolina. Mimi does her own carpentry and plumbing, and can milk a cow and a goat, though not at the same time.
